Jonathan Tribe is CEO of Fed Square. He has had a diverse and successful career leading and managing complex, high profile organisations, to deliver a broad range of critical services in the public and private sectors. Combined with more than 30 years of executive experience, Jonathan has also been a key contributor in various roles such as Director and President of industry bodies at a State and National level, which involved policy development, representation and advice to governments.
Since 2014, Jonathan has held the role of Chief Operating Officer at Victoria University. Previously he had been CEO at Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, was a senior executive at Delaware North Companies Inc. from 1997 and Managing Director of Delaware North Companies International from 2004 to 2010. These appointments followed an extensive executive career in the health sector that included Executive Director at the Royal Melbourne Hospital as well as Executive Director at the Western Hospital. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Economics) from the University of Melbourne and a Masters of Business Administration from Monash University.
Bill Blakeney commenced at Fed Square Pty Ltd in June 2000 as Manager Corporate Services, two years before the opening of Federation Square. Bill has 35 years financial and general management experience in public sector organisations, including 10 years at the National Gallery of Victoria as Finance Manager and 10 years in senior administrative/finance roles at the Victorian College of Agriculture and Horticulture. Bill is Vice President of the Yarra River Business Association, a Finance Committee member for Interact Ltd and until recently was a member of the Retail Sub-Committee of the Property Council of Australia. He is a member of CPA Australia, Australian Institute of Company Directors, Venue Management Association and Fed Square Pty Ltd’s representative for the International Special Events Society and Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Caroline Pitcher is the General Manager of Commercial + Public Engagement Fed Square. Most recently Caroline led Deluxe Australia’s post production businesses, DDP Studios and StageOne Sound as their General Manager. She is a Board member of Film Victoria and an immediate past Board Member of Ausfilm International, the public/private partnership organisation that connects international filmmakers with the Australian screen industry. Caroline has over 13 years’ experience working in the film and television industry in general management, marketing and business development roles in both government and private sectors including Omnilab Media as Marketing and Business Development Director, CEO at Ausfilm, and General Manager at Film Victoria’s Melbourne Film Office. She also has solid visitor destination marketing career experience developed over a ten-year period working in organisations such as Parks Victoria and the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria.
Sharon Pollard is the General Manager Operations at Fed Square. She has accrued over a decade of extensive senior management experience in Facilities Management across the operations, legal, media and catering sectors globally. Having spent the last 12 years overseas, she returned to Australia to commence work at Fed Square, following a successful career with a leading provider of business process outsourcing solutions in the UK. In her current role Sharon oversees Capital Asset Planning and Replacement, Sustainability, Accessibility, Planned and Reactive Maintenance, Cleaning, Security, Waste Management and OH&S.
With a broad range of “hands-on” international experience, underpinned by qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Project Management and Live Production, Theatre and Events, Lighting, Sharon has a passion for sharing best practice, promoting the amazing work that is being carried out within the industry and supporting the Melbourne of the future. Previous assignments include working with international performers including Rod Stewart, Shirley Bassey and Jerry Lee Lewis and working on well-known Australian programs and events such as Vision Australia’s Carols by Candle Light, the Logies and the Grand Prix. Sharon is an advocate for the Facilities Management industry and sits on the Facilities Management Association Victorian Branch Committee. She is studying for her MBA.
Melinda Smith is the General Manager People at Fed Square. Melinda’s most recent role prior to joining Fed Square was as People & Development Manager at Allens Linklaters, where she oversaw the HR needs of 300 plus people spread across Australia, Asia, including Vietnam and Singapore. Prior to this Melinda was People & Development Relationship Manager for ASIC where she operated in a true generalist HR role, during which she was tasked with undertaking performance management reviews, recruitment, cultural surveys and a substantial amount of training and development and team building. Melinda also worked for Spotless as a Senior HR Manager at the MCG, which involved looking after the HR needs of around 100 full time employees and 2000 casuals. Melinda has over 15 years’ experience working across a range of industries and geographical locations including Australia, Asia (including China) and Switzerland. With a broad range of interests, Melinda is certified in Change Management and is a qualified English language teacher and fitness instructor. Melinda also holds a Bachelor of Arts (English and Communication studies) from Murdoch University and a Masters of Business Administration (specialising in HR) from Deakin University.
Matt oversees Fed Square’s year-round public program of over 2000 events and activities. Spanning multicultural community festivals, original art commissions, commercial activations, live performances, 24/7 screen-based content and a variety of seasonal initiatives, the program is an ever-evolving, dynamic mix of influences originating from throughout the entire community. Matt has worked at Fed Square since 2008 and before that spent 10 years working in the UK for a variety of arts organisations including Brighton Festival, England’s largest multi-arts festival, where he was Associate Producer of the theatre program for four years. In this time Brighton Festival developed an international reputation as an incubator of cutting-edge, site-specific performance and visual arts projects delivered in unconventional contexts, as a strategy to broaden the appeal, impact and opportunities for public engagement in the arts. Prior to that, Matt was instrumental in establishing The Basement, South East England’s leading production company and venue for the presentation of inter-disciplinary and live art. Matt holds a Master of Arts in Media & Communications from Goldsmiths College, University of London.
