Giddy up for Melbourne Cup

It’s all about fascinators, florals and fillies this weekend.

The Spring Racing Carnival is the premier event on Australia’s, and our social calendars.  Embrace the racing fever and feel the anticipation and excitement as we gallop towards the 156th Emirates Melbourne Cup.

Not heading to Flemington? You don’t have to miss out on all the action.  Don your racing finest and join us here at Fed Square over the weekend.

Emirates Melbourne Cup Parade
On Monday tens of thousands of people will, once again, line Swanston Street for the annual Emirates Melbourne Cup Parade of the jockeys and trainersStarting at Swanston Street (from Bourke Street) at 12pm, the parade will make its way to Fed Square.  Here you’ll have an opportunity to see and hear live interviews with the Emirates Melbourne Cup final field and enjoy some free entertainment too.

2016 Melbourne Cup Day
All eyes will turn to Flemington on Tuesday as 24 of the world’s best compete to win the $6.2 million prize for ‘the race that stops a nation’.  Soak up the atmosphere and watch Channel 7’s live coverage on the Big Screen.


We know Melbourne has a strong love affair with food trucks. To keep the punters hunger at bay a mighty fleet of food trucks  will descend on Fed Square from today until Tuesday 1 November.

Here’s a peek at what deliciousness awaits:

Find some delightful Greek doughnuts handcrafted right in front of your eyes. These guys will be serving up classics like cinnamon and honey to the more luxurious crushed pistachios and hazelnut ice cream.

Josh Ate the Burger
Burgers are having a moment of late. This trucks selection will satisfy everyone from the great beef patty lovers to the healthy veggies.

Perfect Fruit
Get a taste of summer with premium and delicious fruit soft serve. It’s made with 100% Aussie Fruit, whipped with air, then frozen. It’s also dairy free and fat free!

The Real Jerk
Transport yourself to Jamaica with mouthwatering street food of the Caribbean.  Who could say no to twice cooked fried chicken, cassava chips and coconut slaw!

Devour freshly prepared Indian food. There’s something to satisfy everyone’s tastes, from classic curries, chaat (Indian street food), tandoori to regional specialities.

The Little Jeepney
You won’t miss this bright yellow truck! The Little Jeepney serves up Filipino staples including BBQ skewers and chicken adobo, plus their own unique creations like a creme caramel-ube layered cake!

Shiva Indian House in Prahan are now on wheels and dishing up their range of Indian treats.

Little Pancake Patch
In need of a sugar fix? Head to the Little Pancake Patch for some sweet treats.

O Tuga Tastes of Portugal
Enjoy quality Portuguese street food. These guys serve up both sweet and savoury dishes including prego (chicken sandwich), bifanas (pork sandwich), Valenciana rice, Portuguese custard tarts and chocolate mousse.
